Managing vendors and data processing agreements
A vendor list supports risk management only when tied to actual data sharing and contracts.
Identify each service
Record CRM, analytics, payment processors, hosting, support software, email delivery and advertising vendors.
Classify relationships
Determine who acts as controller, joint controller or processor for each activity rather than assuming every vendor is a processor.
Review security and transfers
Assess contractual obligations, locations, subprocessors, breach handling and transfer safeguards as required.
Maintain ownership
Assign a business owner and periodically review services that no longer need access to data.
Try the relevant free tool, then verify any output against actual website behavior and local requirements.
